MIES VAN DER ROHE. LAFAYETTE PARK. DETROIT 1955-63

DETROIT: The car industry and population growth is in closed relation with the development of city without previous planning, this makes Detroit to be a mess. It feels it is disappearing, african-americans migrate to work in industries and the rest of the population is looking for suburbs with less density and more open space. NO URBAN LIFE.

LAFAYETTE PARK IS AN URBAN PLANNING projected by HILBERSEIMER, MIES, CALDWELL and HERBERT. LE CORBUSIER would never thought to work with other specialists thinking that the city needs more than just architecture to be made. This is a rich experience.

-HILBERSEIMER. URBAN. Influence of Wright with decentralization, in the metropolitan area.

-Caldwell. LANDSCAPE. The influence of Wright on organic rules, depending on the natural laws.

-MIES. ARCHITECTURE. Influence of Wright buildings in extended horizontally.
Tradition of the brick, standardization of models, nakedness of the structure.

"Living in the suburbs in a city ... live in the city in a suburb"
